These boots were made for walking......

A few weeks ago I was asked whether I would be interested in reviewing some walking boots from Hi-Tec - their Harmony-Lite Mid waterproof boots (RRP £84.99) to be precise. As we spend so much time outside I jumped at the chance. I knew we wouldn't be hiking up any mountains over the next few weeks but I also knew that we would be going on various rambles locally - there are not many any mountains in Lincolnshire!

The boots arrived and fitted perfectly. I am usually a little retiscent about ordering walking boots online incase they don't fit. There is nothing worse thn ill-fitting walking boots or shoes. However, these were a perfect fit so their sizing must be pretty accurate! The upper part of the boot is made from high quality durable nubuck plus high performance mesh and I can confirm that this is waterproof as they promise! I soon realised why they were so comfortable - they have what they refer to as an 'ortholite sock liner' - which basically makes you feel like you are walking on cushions of air.....so comfortable!

One of the first thing I noticed was that they were so light weight - gone are the days of heavy and clumpy walking boots. I obviously wore them when we were out walking but due to their weight I didn't feel that they were out of place in the town either. The rubber sole is flexible yet provides enough support for clambering up mountain tracks.

These boots have been worn on various walks - one of these walks was around the RSPB Reserve at Frampton Marsh - a favourite haunt of my boys. After a hike around the marshland pools and onto the bank, there was not a blister in sight and no red marks. Result!

Summary

These boots really shocked me - I liked them far more than I expected. Personally I always think of the brand HI-TEC as being a brand strongly influenced by athletics rather than walking and rambling. If I had been buying online, I 'may' have passed them by having never worn Hi-Tec boots for walking. BUT I was wrong. They are great - one of the most comfortable pairs of walking boots I have had for many, many years. Most boots I have bought I have had to 'bed' in and have been scared about getting blisters...but not these. I cannot recommend these enough.

Disclosure - I was given these Hi-Tec boots free of charge to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

  1. I love my Hi-Tec shoes too, so comfortable. Might have to invest in some boots like this for the winter. Great review.
